Answering questions about our homestead…

  • Why do you own alpacas and what do you do with them?

We added alpacas to our homestead about three years ago. We did not know to much about them but did know that they were adorable, had very warm fiber and that our friend had a few for sale. We ended up adding 5 alpacas to our farm and have been so thankful that we did. Not only do alpacas each have their own personality but they are also very clean animals. Did you know alpacas all poop in the same spot? Their manure also is an amazing soil enhancer so I now actually sell it as “Alpooopa Soil Enhancer. Their fiber is also so warm and valuable. We now sell all of our alpaca fiber to the Ridgway Yarn Club-Magically Ewe.

  • Why do you own Nigerian Goats? Do you breed your goats?

The very first farm animals that we added to our homestead were two adorable nigerian dwarf goat wethers, Oatie and Mater. Soon after we brought our boys home we gained confidence in owning goats and decided to take the leap and add a milking goat to our herd. We had wanted to try goat milk soap since one of our kids has sensitive skin and what better way to try it then to make it ourselves. So, we added Annabelle Rae to our herd and learned how to milk goats. Breeding goats goes hand in hand with milking goats so that is something that we now do yearly. We hand milk our goats and use their milk to make soap.

  • Do you grow your own vegetables? Do you sell vegetables?

Each season we do grow our own vegetables. We currently have two large garden beds and grow tomatoes, zuchinni, pumpkins, romaine lettuce, and peppers. We currently do not sell vegetables since we do not have enough and simply eat everything that we grow. As our gardens expand each season we will start to sell our vegetables as well as cannded goods.

  • What do you sell in your farm stand?

Our farm stand is right along the rails to trails and Highland Rd. It is a serve yourself stand and we accept cash, check, venmo or paypal. The products in our farm stand change each season but we always have handmade goat milk soap, wooden handmade earrings, seasonal farmhouse decor, our self published books and coloring books as well as our Alpooopa soil enhancer.

  • When do you offer alpaca and goat visiting?

We currently offer alpaca visiting April-October pending the weather. Our visiting hours are 8AM-7PM. Our pasture is next to our farm stand and we have parking in front. The address is 5560 Highland Rd. Kane, PA 16735. You can also visit the animals right along the TAMED rails to trails if you are walking, running or riding your bike. Visiting our animals is free however we do ask that you make a monetary donation to help cover the cost of their grain and hay.

  • How do you make your personalized home decor?

We started making personalized home decor a few years ago simply because I love monograms and personalized decor. There is just something so special about having home decor that has your name on it…it just adds to “your nest”. We currently own an XTOOL laser that we use to engrave and cut wood. With that wood we then paint or decorate whatever we make. Items that we can personalize include nursery decor, welcome signs, handwritten recipe charcuterie boards, personalized sports earrings, ornaments, cutting boards and more. We are always expanding what products we can make so if you have an idea message us.
